Probably better than medeival herb known woman mint is a wonderful fragrant herb that is very versatile. In the Middle Ages it was an herb spread to cover odors, as well as a flavoring for beer (it was also known as Alecost because of this). It is basamic leaves and flowers were important in brewing, to keep clear and Ale, mediation astringent, minty bitterness.
Later, in colonial times women mint leaves were used as bookmarks, mostly in the Bibles and hymn books, giving it a different name, Bible leaf. It seems that during the long services would distract the community take a fresh breath or sometimes chew on the leaf appetities.
So, what can it be used for today? Used in small quantities, is a beautiful woman mint garnish for soft drinks, iced teas and other beverages. When the young leaves is to fruit salads, cold soups and green salads can be added. The fresh leaves can also be similar to geranium leaves by laying in the pan before pouring in the batter is used. It makes a great addition to bath teas and homemade astringents. The silvery foliage has a slightly minty aroma with balsam, that is mixed fresh.
