Growing Meliot

Growing Meliot..................

The cultivation of clover / Sweet Clover

Site: clover likes sun but will tolerate partial shade. I do not well in soil that is well drained. Sweet clover thrives under a wide range of soil and climate conditions. However, it will not tolerate acidic soils. It is drought resistant, hardy and productive in the Corn Belt to the south to the Gulf Coast. All of alkali tolerant, and even likes limestone soils. Because of its deep, heavy taproot and dense root system, it opens the substrate and increase ventilation and thus is a valuable conservation tool.

Propagation: Sow clover in early spring or late summer. Self-clover seed in light soil.

Growing: Thin or transplant clover plants to 18 inches apart. This plant is not likely to grow at home. Root break fast at the end of time by organic substances in the soil. Sweet clover can be used for hay, silage, green manure or pasture. It is also one of the most valuable plants for honey production, often used only for honey bees.

Harvesting: Gather leaves and flowers at any time.

Culinary uses: clover's dried leaves can be used in small quantities in soups, stews, marinades, tea, sausage, pork marinades. There is an original taste of beer and cheese. It is used in the Swiss green cheese Schabzieger and Gruyère.
