Limnophila aromatica - rice paddy herb - Rau om, Rau ngo (Vietnamese), an aromatic herb used in Vietnam in small-leaf fresh to taste and garnish soups and curry. It is native to Southeast Asia, where it thrives in hot temperatures.
It may be in containers or pond edges with equal no more than a few inches of water over the ground (especially in flooded rice fields). Needs protection from frost, the whole year.
Limnophila aromatica has a taste and aroma reminiscent of both lemon and cumin. It is most common in Vietnamese cuisine, where it is called ngo Ôm. It is an ingredient in canh Chua, called sweet and sour seafood soup, which also tamarind, and is sometimes also as an accompaniment to the popular Vietnamese noodle soup Pho.
